I was brought up in a conservative Jewish home in NY which was more culturally and ethnically Jewish than observant. I went to Hebrew school twice a week, and right before my Bas Mitzvah I was kicked out for being a cut up in class.
Jewish learning didn't have much meaning to me then, I participated in it because it was expected, rather than what I valued. Little did I know the joke would be on me and G-d would see to it that I became a true Bnai Mitzvah in 1983 when I came to know that Yeshua was the Jewish Messiah. I had a "Damascus Road" experience and in one miraculous moment G-d revealed himself to me on the streets of NYC. Since then I have never been the same and have been pursuing a relationship with Him and coming to understand my Jewish heritage in light of this relationship. Now Judaism has true meaning to me and in 1985 I had my true Bas Mitzvah when I was 27 years old. I am also blessed to share this journey with my wonderful husband Steve who also shares these beliefs and values. It is such a blessing to have a Jewish home where we love Yeshua and grow in our observances.
The MJRC
I am pleased to be involved with the MJRC since I believe the time has come when the Messianic movement is ready to take that next step to work out the communal understandings of halakhic practices that includes faithfulness to Torah, Jewish tradition and our relationship to Messiah Yeshua.
